383 B INTAKE MANIFOLD

hi guys i have been trying to look for a alloy intake manifold for my engine and they are slim picking where i am but i have found an offy at a reasonable price, i have read some write ups about them but i couldn't find a lot of info on them..my question is, is
the one I'm looking at going to be any good and any real improvement over a stock cast manifold and what are the provisions it has on the offy manifold, any opinions would be much appreciated..i like the weiand action+ and the edel 7186 but they are so dam $$$$..what are your thought on this one in my pic.

gonna really depend if it's single or dual plane, i think...

omaerep1 06-15-2022 10:38 AM

that is the actual one i might buy in the picture it appears to be a dual plane

Skwerly 06-15-2022 11:09 AM

i'd send it then. :D

Intake manifolds go for around $200 - 300 new and possibly half that used.
Think Summit, ebay, etc.

The one you pictured, if indeed a dual plane, seems to have an non-standard runner pattern.
Pretty sure it will "work", but how well is going to depend on the application.
What's been done to the motor, what vehicle, and future plans?

If you just need a manifold to get the vehicle running, and that one intact and cheap, sure, go for it.

hi i will pushing the motor so new cam/ heads/carb/headers etc..all of it, i read this article in the link below and it didn't really stack up against the new design manifolds the price difference is about $400 between the offenhauser and the edel or weiand.

And exactly how are you going to "push" the motor?
1. Purpose: drag, circular track, street/strip, stop light to stop light?
2. How big a cam, expected compression, HP?
3. Expected diff gearing?
4. Type of vehicle?

And yes, intake prices have gotten ridiculous lately.

Even used prices are high because finding new is difficult and a used manifold is a gamble…

RacerHog 06-17-2022 10:19 AM

Looks to me like it could be one of the old Offenhauser Equa-Flow 360* High Rise Manifolds ????
Read up on the following link (Page 18) P#5764 and see if it will fit your build. Good Luck... :)

well i decided i,m not going to use it. looks like no one here has tried one out anyway..and its old tech, il spend the cash and get a newer model across the board they are better

omaerep1 06-18-2022 12:05 AM

hey there thanks for the link... good reading..and actually i found a few more articles in my searching as well and decided i will try get a newer model manifold as in my opinion they are a lot better and suits what i,m doing. yes it is an old model the one i have available here, it looks like a dual plane but it is a single plane suppose to be effective around from 1800rpm all the up to 6500rpm or even slightly more.thanks

omaerep1 06-24-2022 01:25 AM

hi there the people who have that manifold we were talking about ..reckon its a dual plane unfortunately i can't see it in person as they are to far away i got a pic of the under side any more thoughts on it? cheers

Seeing as we still know nothing about the vehicle or it's purpose, just get a new/used Edlebrock Performer or Performer RPM, depending on your RPM range. That will work on anything short of a dedicated race rig.

No, I don't like the prices either, which are about $100 more than I paid, just before the lockdown, but it is what it is.

hi, this one will be fine for me for the right price, it about $1000 for a new manifold to new Zeeland that's why trying to find out exactly what this one is, they are telling me this is a dual plane i told them it looks like a dual but its plenum design is of single plane design, they argued and said No its definitely a dual, I'm trying to get a serial number off them to confirm what it is as i can see one on the back there in the pic anyways thanks again

RacerHog 06-24-2022 07:41 AM

The first picture you posted, is a Dual Plan Manifold.

hey there thought i would give you a little info on the car, i have 68 roadrunner with 383 in it i have done tons of work to it i have pretty much finished restoring any bad body parts and the paint nice now so i have been working on the engine trans etc it has 69 block in the car not sure were the o.g one went, it has an 750 edel brock carb mech 2nd, standard exhaust, and intake, its sounds like there may be some cam work but i,m unsure what cam it has as i haven't had it out yet, it has a 727tf and it had a shift kit in it and a 323 gear. to date i have put an updated rad in it with twin 10" electric fans i have deleted the mechanical water pump and have a 150gallon per min electric pump i am putting in a serpentine drive in the car- i re-kitted the power steering pump and replaced all the hoses, i have power brakes with 4 wheels discs i have a new timing chain and billet gears..but i picked up a milidon gear drive so i,m tossing up whether to put it in the car but i will have to change to a 3 bolt cam, i also put in an engine oil cooler with 10" electric fan with remote filter setup and high oil pump with an10 fittings all round and i have a 7 quart oil pan to go on the car also, for the trans i have an an upgraded pan it about 4-5 quart pan i changed all the fittings to an6 and also have a trans cooler+fan fitted i have a lot of cooling on the car but i figure i will future proof the car, i plan on fitting some headers+exhaust, new intake manifold to suit, carb as well, i,m changing to a billet msd distributer with a msd 6al2, thats all i am really planning for the engine at the moment i plan to get the car running with that set up then i want to start planning the internals upgrade. i will be dragging the car on occasion but i drive mostly on the street and i plan to drive it a lot. any ideas you might have i am open too i am not a mechanic..i,m actually a panel beater but i know few things..>but compression ratios cam duration confuse me alot.

For a dual purpose car, with 3.23s in the back, that will spend a lot of time under 3000 rpm, the answer is still the Edelbrock Performer RPM.
You can do port matching if you like, and while that will add some HP, how much might be debatable.

Please take this as constructive criticism, you're complaining about the cost of an intake manifold, but spent a lot of money on things that aren't as important.
You really need some idea on what the cam is and yes, I would upgrade the exhaust.

I hope you upgraded the electrical system as well. The electric fans and water pump will tax a std alternator, not to mention the wiring, if original.
And oh yeah, the suspension...

omaerep1 06-25-2022 04:12 AM

i was planning on using a brand new loom from year one as yes my wiring is old, the alternator yes i can match that up which something here no problems so i had planned to upgrade that also..the manifold il get what i need i guess.cheers
