273 super commando in my Dakota?

I got a good deal on 2 273 engines and I'm wondering if I can build them up and toss one in my 2004 Dakota. I'm new to the mechanic stuff so I don't know much. Pretty sure it came from a 65' dart

The v6 in your Dakota probably has more power than a good running 273....

Sell those 273's to someone who needs them, then take the money and buy the 5.9 that came stock in your truck.

Mine has the 3.7 V6 in it stock. I've heard it's gonna cost alot to make that 273 compatible since it's a '67, is that true? And how much more? I'm just really banking on this to work because I love the super commando. Since I got 2 I might just try and find a dart to throw the other one in. Just need some guidance, like I said I'm new to this whole mechanical world

You can do it... Dakotas came with V-8. You just need a trans and to over come all the opuscules that it may take to install it... Would be a cool conversation piece

Cool and unique like herpes in your ears, like I've said before you v6 makes more power and gets better fuel mileage than a 273 would. The last thing is the swap is illegal, you can put a newer motors in a older vehicle but not the other way around and with the EPA on the rampage I would not take them on.

When he said Dakota's came with V8's he wasn't talking about the 273 for God's sake.

He is referring to your local and state government restrictions on modifications. If Emissions testing is required in your area for testing or sales of a vehicle. and it will not pass, You can be left with just a nice piece of garage art if your not careful.

The Dakota came with a V8. Even in California you can swap the V8, so long as you keep the emissions controls for the year of the engine, and all the chassis emission controls. The 3.9 V6 is a SOS.

It's not a V8. It's a 3.7 V6. Illegal on the swap because of the emissions? I don't doubt it at all lol it's basically gonna be my truck to show off and have fun in from time to time. I don't think I'll use it as an everyday driver.
