67 cuda f/s 4-speed 273-4bbl
Hello everyone, I'm new here, but not new to mopar sites. I've been trying for years to find the exact production numbers on my particular cuda, with no luck ! Can anyone help me ??? I have an original, untouched, 1967, fastback, barracuda, formula "S", 4-speed, 273-4bbl, bucket seats, bright red, black interior, triple racing stripes down center of car. Now I can find the general numbers on formula "S" 4-speeds, but nothing on all of these things, including paint colors/interior colors, w/stripes ?! Nobody, on any mopar site has been able to narrow down just how rare this car is !? I would think that every testosterone riddled high school aged guy with the money, wanting a barracuda in 1967, would have been drawn to this car like a frigging magnet !!!! They even use this as a promo in advertisements of the day. If you look at advertising of the day, you'll find it being used as the sports model, and could only be topped by having a 383, which turned out to have handling issues, so those guys doing their research would have known this, and chose this car. Now, I'm really a triple black kinda guy, but this car just screams,"look at me", and to the cops, "pull me over", LOL !!!!
Can anyone come up with the exact production number on this exact car. Buy the way, it only has 53,000 miles on it, needs restoration, and I do have the build sheet from the back of the front seat. I would think, from what I've been able to research, and surmise, there were around a hundred, give, or take, produced. I've seen a few movies with them on it, like the "get smart" tv show, in 1967. I also have a 1965 barracuda, and a 1966 barracuda, along with a dozen other old car, and trucks, not all mopar. I've owned 70's chargers, roadrunners, satellites, polaras, and more, but really got tired of the big boat muscle car, and really love fastbacks, so went to "A-bodies" instead. Even bought my 14 year old daughter a 66 440 coronet, 4-door as her first car. No fold-up import to die in, lol !!
My last 440, triple black, '69 charger, weened me off of the big car handling thing. Loved to sit in it, go down the highway in it, but sucked in the curvies ! Absolutely loved it as a chick magnet at car shows, but got tired of worshipping it, without the sporty handling, and didn't have any bodies to haul in the trunk, lol. And the float down the road feel,.....I'll buy a Cadillac if I want that !!!

A friend had one in high school , it wasn't fast but it got the snot beat out of every day. Welcome to the site.

I've got bigger motors sitting in my garage, ready to drop into whatever I want, but the 273 is what it came out with. I agree, it's way under powered for my liking, but I'm just talking stock . I've got a modified 1971 360, and a friend with a beast of a 340 I can buy off him, if I want to stay with the small block platform, and I've got a 1967 383 if I want to go big block.

I gave my daughter a 66 440 coronet for her first car. Not sure if I want to go big block ? I like the quick response of a small block, and I'm not trying to reach high speeds on the highway, and don't want to have to modify the body. Other than suspension, and stance, I want it to apear stock, except for wider tires in the rear. I may put lakeside type exhaust like the 69 corvettes had, but no hood scoop. You know, that late '60's-'70's muscle car look I grew up with. I hate that lowered look people do now ! I think it ruins the idea of having an old muscle car. I don't care what famous builder is doing it !! To each their own, but I don't like resto-mods. I grew up driving old muscle cars, and love that jacked up in the rear, mags, and leaning forward like it's already going fast just standing still !

Hey, I like Volare's so I have to support every ones tastes in mopars!
My buddys 273 4 speed car was fun and the power level was appropriate for kids that didn't know better. Looking back 40 years I've got no complaints, it was the first time I saw someone shift without getting off the gas, COOL.
