Cuda won’t turn over after a short run
1970. 383 cuda starts right up and drives fine. When I go to start it after driving say a 1/2 hour or so it won’t turn over. It has a new battery. When they jump it it takes a while for the jumping charge to take effect to even turn the engine over. If it cools down for 2 hours it starts right up. Any thought on what might be wrong?

The engine (starter) won't spin or the engine won't ignite?
Heat expansion resulting in a ground short?
Bad electronic control box? (Been there, done that.)

Does it have headers on it because it sounds like you need a starter or a heat shield for the starter...

I would first verify the connection of the battery cables (both of them) are good and that the cables are in good condition. I suppose the starter solenoid could be giving up also. To check out the starter you need to pull it and have someone run a load test, ORille’s, western auto, Advance Auto etc.can do it. The soleniod can be replaced cheap enough same with the cables.

It’s possible that your new battery is junk also, I had that with a tractor once.
