How to move your B Body MOPAR wiper motor under the dash.

Want to smooth out that firewall? Big *** wiper motor hanging in the way? Yank that puppy off and stick it under the dash! Fill in that divot on the firewall rim.
Here's how:

Remove the wiper motor from it's resting place. Set this aside with the mounting bolt/nuts and wiring. Get out your wheel of death and cut out the offending divot. In my case I cut the entire firewall, but that's just me. I'm a little crazy. Cut a hunk of 20GA sheet metal and trim to fit in the opening you made. Clean both the new piece and the area surrounding the hole you made. Sand the edges of both to rough up the metal. Clean again to degrease them. Weld in place, slowly, spreading out the welds so you don't add too much heat. Sew it all up and grind down to smooth. Now. cut out the overhang upper edge and cut another 20GA piece to fit into that cut out. and repeat.
Do a little bodywork and Bob's yer Uncle.
Now, under the dash.....
You will need to fabricate a bracket to mount the wiper motor to the inside of the firewall. I included a picture of the one I made. Take the arms and position them so they don't interfere with anything else and position the wiper motor bracket and motor at the center of the arms rotation arc diameter. It needs to be able to turn the shaft in a full arc without binding either arm. Once you find the sweet spot mark the bracket mounting holes on the firewall and bolt that puppy in. Run wiring to it and yer done. I had to recurve one arm a tiny bit to miss the brake pedal tower mount flange. The motor sits inside that mount with the shaft sticking up. Then it goes against the firewall with the shaft facing out to the rear of the car. Then hook the arms up.
Now, granted I had a modern car dash in this car with tons of room under it. Not sure how much room is under a stock dash. Do some measuring first before you cut things up!

Ghost.

Wipers and mechanicals have been removed from my Volare for years but I’ve been thinking of running it in a street class, well it’s got to have at least one working wiper, so there you go…
