Ignition Question

I switched out my points and went with an electronic ignition. Im having some tuning issues. We set the timing and it will not idle without shutting down. I have to stay on the accelerator in order to keep it running.

We advanced the timing and backed it off but Im having a hard time.

It was running pretty smooth with the points ignition. JUst have to fine tune it now. I bought the ignition from Skip White. Just in case you were wondering.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Evan

Evan -

I have very little experience with point ignitions (always used electronic), but do you need to change the plug gap?

Are you sure the ignition box is good, yes, I know it's new.

Are the ballast resistors set up correctly.

When you swapped out the dist, could you have possibly rearranged the firing order - don't ask me how I know about that...

What sort of electronic ignition did you put in, EXACTLY, and new or used? I'm thinking more along the lines of either incorrect or malfunctioning advance in the distributor, or something in the trigger causing false triggers.
