Question 360 difference questions.

I have a 73 W200 with a 360 and it is very worn out and has started smoking and oil is getting past the rings. I found a rebuild kit for a 1980 to 1989 360, here's the link Engine Master Rebuild Kit Dodge Mopar 360 1980-1989 Enginetech | eBay as far as I knew there was no differences until you got to the magnum but maybe someone knows something I don't. I just want to be sure I won't run into any fitment issues or anything of the sort. Also, if anyone has experience with that kit please share any feedback you have. Thank you in advance!

If I was you, I wouldn't order any parts for a troubled engine until I pulled it apart. You may have to bore the cylinders which is likely and the pistons in the kit won't fit. You said oil is getting past the rings. It may be happening that way but you won't know until it's apart on the bench.

My 2 cents on the subject...... Sit down and talk to the shop that is going to do your engine rebuilding and tell them what you want.... Ask them to do all the work and give you a warranty.. Give you back a assembled long block. That way if something goes wrong you have a better chance at getting things worked out... If you provide everything, and do all the assembly, Its all on you and your wallet.

Good Luck... Hope all goes well.... Keep us posted on what you do.... Cheers

Great advice!! I completely rebuilt my Road Runner many years back and did the engine assembly. I found out afterwards for cheap money the machine shop would have assembled it with a one-year warranty. Not that i needed it, but good insurance.

I’ve got to admit that I’ve had a few of my builds assembled by my machine shop buddies, for me at the time it was time I was short of. I bought the parts and labor but the dyno time was no charge. I got a great deal…

Good Afternoon,
Dont get me wrong, If you feel confident enough to screw together and engine? By all means Have at it !!!! Its a good feeling to screw together your own stuff. Just make sure you know and the machine shop knows and everyone is on the same page of the direction the build is headed...
