New steering kit
Hi guys,
I'm asking for your advice. I have a Polara 64 with a 440 engine.
The steering is terrible, the steering clearance is tight, it's like the rudder of a ship. Could you please suggest a kit that would improve this?
I know worm steering has clearance, but this is too much! I would prefer to buy rack and pinion steering, but are there any that don't have to modify the front axle?
I found some reviews of the Borgeson steering kit, do you have any experience with them? and which?
Thansk in advance for your reply!

My 68 A body was a menace on the road when I first got it. The steering was so bad I was constantly correcting the wheel just to stay straight. Instead of rebuilding the steering box iI found an after-market one that cloned the original. I eliminated the steering coupler and replaced it with a universal joint connection. I worked on these cars when they were in everyone's driveway and recall the steering play. The universal joint made all the difference in handling. Fun to drive and handles great!!
Note: Not to mention the original couplers are known to pop out on hard turns. There's only a plastic pin holding the shaft from sliding up and down and they break usually within the first few years of production. The coupler locks it in place.

Which steering would you recommend?
I found two variants
1. is from Borgenson Steering box.
2. is it from firm feel stage 3?
Do you have any experience? Or which option would you recommend?
Thanks for the answers!

Not sure if this is a Manuel Steering gear box or a Power Steering gear box???
But check with Napa for a replacement?
Or

I'm not sure if I'm saying it right, my English is not very good.
In short, I have a problem with the clearance on the steering wheel of my Polaris.
I move the steering wheel 10-15 cm and the wheels are still in the same position.
I need to get rid of it!
can you advise me how or what?
Thanks for the answers!

Ok...You have excessive play in the wheel. There's a nut on top of the steering box with a screw in the center. Loosen the nut and take a screwdriver and turn the screw clockwise until you start feeling it getting slightly tight. (Do not over tighten). On the road after making a right or left hard turn the wheel should return on its own towards the middle.
Its the nut and screw in the middle you want to tighten but not over tighten

If tightening didn't work the worm gear assembly is bad. You could take it apart and rebuild it or just buy another one. I did buy mine on Ebay for $295.95 manual steering. Its been working great since 2015.
