Question 1972 Scamp

Hi, I need some help. I've recently been working with a friend in his shed fixing and scrapping cars. Its a fairly large shed and there's a lot of stuff in it. In the back corner, there has always been a shell of a car, but I never knew what it was. It didn't have a motor or transmission, hood, front fenders, steering assembly, front suspension, or anything like that, just a rear end, body, frame, and interior. No paint on it, just surface rust, body's in good shape. I finally asked his dad what it was and he said it was a 1972 Plymouth Scamp. He didn't know where the motor or anything was, as it belonged to a friend of his who liked to work on stuff like that and was just using the shed for a little while. Long story short, he can't work on it anymore because of medical issues. We started looking around the farm, and we found the original motor, trans, hood, fenders, everything to make it a whole car again. The guy said he would sell the entire thing to us for $3,000, which the 3 of us would split 3 ways. I think the motor is a 340 small block with a 4 barrel carb, but I don't know for sure. The air cleaner box says 340, but I didn't think they put a 340 in the Scamps. I haven't gotten a chance to look at the casting number, but I'll look when I can. I don't know what the trans is. I was wondering what you guys thought about this. Should we buy it? How much would it be worth all put together and painted and such? How much is it worth right now? I don't have a whole lot of money right now, but I really want to make this car great again. I don't know how to get pictures on here but if I figure it out, I'll post em

Thanks,
Cole

I think he is a little high in the price.... But if he has all the goods to make it a roller and a runner.... Some labor of love may go along way....
