The 904 is a good tranny, parts are going to be harder to find for it. you could upgrade to a 727 which is more common.

The 9 1/4 rear axle was swapped in as Chrylser didn't start making them til the early 70s. They are a stronger axle than the 7 1/4s and 8 1/4s but not as good as the 8 3/4s and Dana 60s. It is plenty strong for what you have though.

What is there for rust/rot on the body? How is the truck and floor boards?

There is a gallery at Crazy4Carz.Com You can host pictures there. It is a "hosting type site and very easy. Go to the home page and click Gallery. follow the instructions it is that easy.
