Old Hemi Junkie
Hi. My name is Bill, and I am new to the forum. I own a 1951 Chrysler Imperial Newport that is 80% done (need to finish upholstery and weather stripping), a 1954 Chrysler New Yorker T&C wagon driver with 80K original miles and a 1955 DeSoto Sportsman, factory 3-speed that has the mechanicals done, is painted and ready for assembly.
Finding weather stripping for the 51 Newport has been challenging and expensive. I have found and purchased everything except the roof rail rubber weather stripping. I have not found anyone who reproduces it, including Steele and most of the Mopar suppliers. I am sure I will have the same problem with the 55 Sportsman.
If you have had the same problem and have found a supplier or developed a solution, I would appreciate hearing from you. I have attached a sketch of the original weather stripping and a profile that I could make work, if I could find it. Thanks--Bill
