1974 d100 speedometer/oil/fuel and temp gauge won't work

Hi I'm restoring my old 1974d100 and I've run into a problem where when I connect the speedometer cable the speedometer goes wild and way fast than I should be. It is a brandnew cable and all lubed up. Also my fuel gauge, temperature gauge and oil gauge are not working. I've replaced the solenoid on the back of the cluster. And noticed there was a spot for a wire in the back of the solenoid. Is that supposed to be grounded??

No.... The ground wire should be part of the plug in harness to the cluster....

As for the speedo... Might have the wrong gears in the trans to work with the Speedo or that year truck might need a transducer to slow the cable speed down?

Hmm well I haven't changed anything on the transmission. And I checked those gears and they all seem to be in perfect working order.i only replaced the cable cause the old one was wore out. It was the original one. Also the speedometer needle jumps all around. And makes a super fast winding noise.
But for all the gauges.... Got any ideas?

In that case the speedo head needs to be serviced...Most speedo shops can handle that.....

As for the rest of the cluster.... Is the signal getting to the cluster ?

By solenoid I assume you are referring to the voltage regulator. Also check that you have voltage going to the circuit board. Resolder the pins on the circuit board where it plugs in
